LOST Season Finale - May 13, 2009
Alright - we’ve met Jacob! Finally! He was sitting on the beach in the beginning looking at a ship. Another man walked up and asked him why he summoned the people on the ship because it all ends the same. Then he tells Jacob that he wants to find a ‘loophole’ (to whatever) and kill him. The camera pans back and they are sitting next to the very large 4 toed statue. It’s holding an anke and it looks to have the face of a crocodile.
Next time we see Jacob, he is in a convenience store paying for a lunch box that little Kate was going to steal. Then we see him giving James a pen at his parent’s funeral. (I guess he’s making his rounds to everyone!). He shows up after Jack’s first surgery and he shared a cab with Hurley after he got out of jail. Yup, that’s how he found out about the flight. Oh and when John’s father threw him out of the window, Jacob was there - touched him and he came back to life. Like Richard, Jacob doesn’t age.
Ok so Jack is determined to take the nuke to the swan and throw it to the energy. While taking it there, Sayid gets shot in the gut and is dying. Jack and he would’ve been caught but up drives Hurley to save them. Jack is trying to stop the bleeding but is having a hard time doing so. Sayid is dying.
Meanwhile on the sub, Kate tells Sawyer and Juliet about what Jack plans to do and asks for their help to stop him. Sawyer says that he won’t - he wants to go to the real world and continue his life with Juliet. Juliet, however, tells him that they can’t just let all of the people die on the island and that they have to go back. So they make the sub guy surface the sub so they can get out. On Jack’s way to the Swan, Sawyer-Juliet and Kate are waiting in the road.
Hurley stops the van and Sawyer asks Doc for 5 minutes of his time. He tries to convince Jack not to do this! He won’t know Kate - Sawyer won’t know Juliet, etc.. and Sawyer doesn’t want that to happen. Jack does. He tells Sawyer that ‘he had her and he lost her’ - speaking of Kate. It was so painful that he can’t live having lost her so he’d rather not know her. Whatever was meant to be is meant to be - he says. Well Sawyer doesn’t like that answer and starts kickin’ his ass! Jack put up a good fight but Sawyer gets the better of him and is about to kill him when into the woods comes Juliet telling him to stop. She has changed her mind and WANTS Jack to do this now. Why - asks Sawyer. Because I saw you look at her - speaking of Kate - and she would rather not know him than go through the pain of losing him. He tells her that he’s with HER but she obviously doesn’t feel that she has his heart.
‘The look’ that Juliet was speaking of is when they were trying to get to Jack after they got off of the sub - they ran into Rose and Bernard who have been living on the island for 3 years on their own…quite happily I might add. Bernard said that the only thing that matters is that you’re together at the end and, with that, Sawyer looked at Kate and Juliet saw that. She was heart broken.
In present time, Locke and all are on their way to see Jacob. He informs Ben that HE (Ben) will be the one killing Jacob. So, they get to where Jacob lives - IN the 4 toed statue’s foot (which is all that is left of it at this point in time.) Locke and Ben go in and see Jacob - Ben has a knife. Ben says to Locke, “Well, I guess you found your loophole.” WHAT!! Oh my Gosh, that’s NOT Locke!! It’s the guy from the beginning who wants to find a loophole to kill Jacob!! So, Ben is so distraught about not ever meeting Jacob until now and feeling so insignificant that he stabs Jacob in the chest twice. As Jacob is going down, he tells “Locke” -whos not really Locke - “they’re coming”. All the while outside the foot on the beach - up walks Alana (who is on a mission from Jacob) with some men carrying a huge box and Lipedus is with them. They put down their weapons and Alana asked for Richard. He comes forward and she asks him -what lies in the shadow of the statue - which is obviously a Jacob code. He responds to her in a foreign language - probably Latin and she asks if she can show him what’s in the box. They open it and dump it on the beach - - it’s Locke..the REAL Locke..dead. Whoa.
Back to Jack - he’s on his way to the Swan with a nuke on his back set to detonate on impact - courtesy of the dying Sayid. He’s going alone. But then Sawyer, Kate, Juliet, Miles and Hugo see that security is on its way to the Swan and Jack is likely to be killed. Sawyer asks Juliet (blondie) aww - so cute - what they should do. She responds “live together - die alone”. So they go back him up - which he needs and a battle ensues. Our guys win!
Once the drill hits the pocket of energy, Jack throws the bomb in - but nothing happens. They are each looking lovingly and sadly at each other waiting for an explosion - but it doesn’t happen. Then there is a metallic scratching sound and everything metal goes flying into the deep hole - tools, barrels, the rig itself… Dr. Chang’s hand get’s stuck and Miles saves him. Jack gets wacked on the head and goes down. Then poor Juliet gets all wrapped up in a chain and is getting sucked in the hole. Kate rushes over - Sawyer rushes over. Sawyer is holding on - Kate is trying to get the chains off. It can’t be done. Sawyer won’t let go and it is a VERY emotional scene with Juliet declaring her love for him and him begging her not to leave him. It was truly heartbreaking - but the metal chains are pulling her in and Juliet slips from his grasp and falls … Sawyer sobs uncontrollably.
Jack and Kate try to pull him away from the hole in anticipation of the explosion when the camera pans down the hole. There lies Juliet - not dead but dying - next to her lies the nuke. She picks up a rock and just starts beating it - finally she’s successful and the whole screen goes white.
Next season of LOST is the final season! I can’t believe it…
